SARAH POBEE FINALLY CONFIRMED AS ADA EAST DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE
The District Chief Executive nominee for the Ada East District Assembly, Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee has been confirmed after exhausting a hectic three- time running for the post by Assembly members of the area, though not without some semblance of turbulence.
Out of 36 valid votes cast, Sarah Dugbakie Pobee polled 28 votes as against 7 with one (1) rejected vote.
There was heavy security presence in the area where voting was taking place. At the end of voting, Hon. Simon Arthur refused to sign the results declaration form, claiming the election was rigged.
“I am the Presiding Member and I am not going to sign because leadership must be by the will of the people”, he said.
He said they are not satisfied with the conduct of the election and will resist any attempt to impose a District Chief Executive on them.
Some degree of uneasy calm in the district dates back to May 2017 after the President’s nominee lost the first vote when 23 rejected her nomination as against 13.
In the second vote, Hon. Pobee could not again secure 2/3 majority after polling 19 out of a total of 36 votes.
Hon. Sarah Dugbakie Pobee has since been sworn in by the Hon. Regional Minister and assumed office accordingly.
