Health

The Ada East District Health Directorate is one of the sixteen District/Municipal and Metropolitan Health Directorates in the Greater Accra Region which over sees the Health issues in the Ada East District.

It has Thirteen Health facilities under its jurisdiction comprising of Twelve government facilities and on private facility

The district is divided into three administrative sub-districts as follows:

  • Ada-Foah sub-district
  • Kasseh sub-district
  • Pediatorkope sub-district

These facilities are well distributed in the three sub district mentioned and it comprises of Three Health Centres, One Clinic, a District Hospital and Eight CHPS facilities though all the 27 electoral areas have been zoned.

 Ada sub District has Ada Health Centre, Adedetsekope, Pute, Agorkpo, Azizanya and Teyekpikope CHPS zones to cater for the Health issues;  Kasseh Sub District has the District Hospital, Kasseh Health Centre, Health Star Clinic,  Dogo, Asigbeykope and Tamatoku CHPS  and Pediatorkope  Subdistrict which is an Island with about 22 communities has Pediatorkope Health Centre.

All facilities offer a 24 hours service to clients and the District Hospital serves as a referral point to all facilities in the district. Services rendered are as follows:

  • Out Patients and In Patient Services
  • Laboratory
  • Xray,
  • Antenatal
  • Nutrition
  • Tuberculosis
  • Reproductive and Child Health Services
  • Child Welfare Clinics
  • Family Planning (Long and Short term Methods)
  • Prevention from Mother to Child Transmission
  • Counseling and Testing of HIVs
  • Adolescence

There are other programmes that the Ghana Service engages in from time to time;

  • Expanded programme on Immunization (EPI).
