DCE, MP CUT SOD FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 24-HOUR ECONOMY MARKET AT KASSEH

The District Chief Executive for Ada East, Hon. Kenneth Kabu Kofi Kanor, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for Ada East, Hon. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, has cut sod at Kasseh Market to officially commence the construction of a market under the government’s 24-Hour Economy Signature Programme.

The sod-cutting ceremony brought together Chiefs, Assembly Members, Muslim Community Leaders, NDC Constituency Executives, Staff of the Ada East District Assembly, Association of Market Women and members of the public.

Speaking on behalf of the market women, the Market Queens expressed their appreciation to the government, the MP, and the DCE for bringing such an important project to Kasseh Market. They appealed to the government and all stakeholders to ensure that the project is completed within the scheduled time so that traders and residents can benefit from its use.

The contractor for the project also assured the gathering that they would endeavour to complete the project within the scheduled time. He called for the support and cooperation of the people of Kasseh, especially traders and residents around the project site, to enable them work smoothly and deliver the project successfully.

The chiefs also expressed their appreciation to the government, the MP, and the DCE for the project. They further called on the people to embrace a strong maintenance culture, stressing that development projects must be protected and properly maintained for the benefit of present and future generations.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Kenneth Kabu Kofi Kanor highlighted what the Signature Programme means to the people of Ada East and Ghana as a whole. He explained that the 24-Hour Economy is one of the government’s major development programmes aimed at creating more jobs, improving business activities, and giving people the opportunity to work, trade, and provide services beyond the usual daytime hours.

According to the DCE, the Kasseh Market project forms part of the government’s 24-Hour Economy Signature Programme, which seeks to open up local economies, support traders, create employment opportunities, and improve livelihoods. He noted that the construction of the market will help boost trading activities in Kasseh and surrounding communities, especially for market women, farmers, transport operators, artisans, and young people.

Hon. Kenneth Kabu Kofi Kanor expressed his happiness that Ada East District has been selected to benefit from the first phase of the 24-Hour Economy Signature Programme. He said the project is a clear sign of the government’s commitment to bringing development closer to the people.

He further stated that the programme has brought smiles to the faces of the people of Ada, especially residents and traders who have long desired improved market infrastructure to support their businesses.

The Member of Parliament for Ada East, Hon. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, also expressed appreciation for the project and assured the people of her continued support towards development in the constituency.

Both the MP and the DCE thanked His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, for introducing the 24-Hour Economy Signature Programme and for ensuring that Ada East is included among the first beneficiaries.

They also called on the people of Kasseh and Ada East at large to support the project and cooperate with the contractors to ensure its successful completion.
