GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL CHIEF DIRECTOR VISITS ADA EAST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY
The newly appointed Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Reverend Dr Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo, has paid a working and familiarisation visit to the Ada East District Assembly. He was accompanied by a team of officials from the Regional Coordinating Council.
The visit formed part of his engagement with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region. It provided him with an opportunity to interact with the management and staff of the Assembly, understand their operations and encourage them to remain committed to effective public service delivery.
Addressing the gathering, Rev. Dr Owoo urged the staff to make purpose, productivity, professionalism, punctuality, responsiveness and performance essential principles in the discharge of their official responsibilities.
He explained that punctuality and productivity were necessary for the successful implementation of government programmes and the delivery of quality services to the public. He also encouraged the staff to demonstrate professionalism, discipline, teamwork, integrity and respect when attending to members of the public.
The Chief Director reminded the officers that their work directly affected the development and well-being of the people. He therefore advised them to respond promptly to public concerns, avoid unnecessary delays and perform their responsibilities with dedication and accountability.
His message was consistent with the leadership framework he has introduced for MMDAs, which focuses on the “5 Ps” of Purpose, Punctuality, Productivity, Professionalism and Performance.
Rev. Dr Owoo further disclosed that part of his family originated from Ada and expressed his strong affection for the area and its people. He stated that his family connection to Ada had given him a special interest in the progress and development of the district.
Sharing aspects of his professional and personal journey, he indicated that he is a Reverend Minister of the Methodist Church Ghana and has served as a public servant for many years. He has worked with Regional Coordinating Councils and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies, gaining considerable experience in local governance and public administration before his appointment as the Greater Accra Regional Chief Director.
He encouraged the staff to work together, support management and contribute innovative ideas towards improving the performance of the Assembly. He assured them of the Regional Coordinating Council’s commitment to supporting the Assembly in addressing its challenges and achieving its development objectives.
The District Coordinating Director welcomed the Chief Director and his delegation and expressed the Assembly’s appreciation for the visit and words of encouragement. The Director assured him that management and staff would continue working diligently to improve service delivery and promote the development of the Ada East District.
Present at the meeting were the District Coordinating Director, the District Finance Officer, heads of departments and units, and staff members from the various departments and units of the Ada East District Assembly.
The visit ended with a renewed commitment by management and staff to uphold professionalism, punctuality, productivity, responsiveness and high performance in the delivery of public services.
